Another South African Oscar Contender?

The South African film, Life Above All, which received a standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival, has been selected for consideration as South Africa’s official entry into the Best Foreign Film category for the 83rd Annual Academy Awards.

The film was awarded the Prix Francois Chalais, which was presented to the South African co-producer Greig Buckle and the Best Actress Award for first time actress, Khomotso Manyaka (Chanda), at the 31s Durban International Film Festival.

The film is based on the international award-winning novel ‘Chanda’s Secrets’ by Allan Stratton, and is about a teenager who fights to rescue the people she loves.
